Pricing is not decided yet
Edict has no published prices. This page shows how the cost is planned to work in three stages, and lists what is settled and what is still open.

Planned Prices are not decided. Edict is in development.
What are the planned stages?
Build for free, try a hosted backend, then pay when you are ready for production. All three stages are planned.
Free local development
Build and test on your own machine with test users, mock subscriptions, and simulated services. No subscription is needed.
Free
Hosted trial
A real hosted backend under strict usage limits. The intent is that you do not need a payment method to start.
Terms to be decided
Paid production
A paid plan that you activate keeps the hosted backend running. Without one, the hosted backend is suspended and the project stays recoverable for a retention period.
Price to be decided
What is decided and what is not?
The direction is settled. The numbers and the terms are not. Anything marked open can change before the beta.
Direction, still planned
- Local development is free and needs no subscription.
- Managed production hosting is paid. A permanently free hosted production backend is not planned.
- A paid plan is something you turn on yourself. The aim is no surprise billing.
Open
- Prices, plan names, and how many plans there are.
- How long the trial lasts and what its limits are.
- What each paid plan includes.
- How long a suspended project stays recoverable.
- Hosting regions and production terms.
Pricing questions
Short answers, all qualified by the fact that pricing is not final.
How much will Edict cost?
That has not been decided. This site publishes no prices, tiers, or plan names, because none are final.
Will there be a free plan?
Free local development is planned: you build and test on your own machine without a subscription. A permanently free hosted production backend is not planned.
Will the hosted trial need a payment method?
The intent is that it will not. The trial would give you a real hosted backend under strict usage limits. The length of the trial and its limits are not final.
What happens when the trial ends?
The plan is to avoid surprise billing. Your backend keeps running only if you explicitly activate a paid plan. Otherwise it is suspended, and the project stays recoverable for a retention period before anything is deleted, with warnings first. The exact terms are not final.
